Summer is almost here and you have had plans to build a brand new patio.  You might need a permit to build your new patio, depending on where you live and what your plans are.  You should find out a few weeks ahead of time if a building permit is needed, if so apply for it two to three week beforehand.

Now you need to decide what your new patio is going to be made of.  Talk this decision over with the people at the hardware store or with your contractor, they have a good idea about what ages and lasts the longest.

Many people decide to have a patio cover this shades them while they are on their patio and helps keep the rain off.  This can be done over half of the patio or over the whole thing.  Either way that you choose has pros and cons however it is a good idea to cover your patio.

When all of your decisions have been made you now need to hire a contractor.  Be choosey in what one you do pick because you will be living with your new patio for years to come.
